Bin vehicles set to advertise!

MULTI PURPOSE BIN COLLECTIONS ON THEIR WAY!

Bins are always a subject of debate from collections times, garden bin prices and recycling.  But here is something else to add to the conversation and reactions to our collections - adverts on the actual vehicles!

This is a totally new initiative from Midlothian council and ‘Roadvert’ Advertising local businesses in this way is believed to be a way to boost visibility and gain income to support council services. 

This new idea is following on from an initiative, where advertising was placed at thirty local roundabouts one year ago. Having this level of visibility with people can only support this campaign. 

Roadvert can promote different businesses from small to more national ones - there are various budgets and aims with this venture. There is scope to develop further ideas if this is successful.

Council leader Councillor Kelly Parry talks about how this will create an additional income at a time where there is no shortage of financial challenges. 

The vehicles cover thousands of miles every week and are in a prominent position to get noticed. 

So we get our bins collected while simultaneously supporting the local economy - it’s all good!
