With Valentines day just around the corner many loved up couples may go that step further on the 14th of February and decide to 'tie the knot' or enter into a civil partnership. This is of course a life changing event with Saint Valentines day being an ideal opportunity to confirm this intention of a life spent together.
So once you have gotten your head around the notion of a life of love and commitment, a very obvious factor to consider is where on earth will the event be held. Fortunately Midlothian has a great many options - for those looking for something quite fancy or chic and also for those who want to keep things simple, elegant and discreet. If couples want a bit of both then there is the 'Old Fairfield House' in the heart of Dalkeith, which is a Victorian Villa which forms part of the Midlothian council offices. It is a bit of a 'hidden gem' and is well worth consideration for this all important ceremony.

So what are the practicalities surrounding a marriage? Firstly there are twenty nine days notice which you must give at the local Registrar office claiming your intent to marry. The marriage schedule is the official document used with the couples information and details. It is actually a rather straight forward procedure to follow.
Valentines day choices in Midlothian
Edinburgh restaurants leave no cuisine out of the equation and one which is quite reasonable on The Royal Mile is 'The Whiski rooms' with menu's from £12 for two courses!
Midlothian has an increasing amount of quality restaurants including the Sun Inn, outside Newtongrange. With a vast menu and choice this is quite a favorite locally. It may not suit all palates, with dishes such as pigeon!
Gigi's on Lothian Street Bonnyrigg varies in price and has a great Italian menu!
Staying in
It goes without saying that staying indoors and enjoying each others company in the comfort of your own home may be the ideal situation and why not?
Opting out
Some may think - I love my partner all year round and do not require a special day to demonstrate this!
The choice is yours
So from 'belle of the ball' in Midlothian to quiet night indoors. Enjoy this day if it is 'your thing'!
