Our Features

at the heart of the matter...

01

eco - friendly way of being

Taking care of our beautiful planet is a cause which many people feel they are at the heart of - whether giving up plastic bags or participating in the 'new coat' scheme, where you simply choose a coat and can donate too. We all have a role to play no matter how small.

02

true to the heart of midlothian

This brilliant part of the U.K. has plenty of things going on where we can participate and find our own niche.  What does the typical Midlothian lady seek out?  Many services; to nail salons to a quiet walk or somewhere reasonably priced.  A good coffee at the local bakers will do for me but sometimes a wee afternoon tea might be a good idea...

03

cultural diversity

With a host of different backgrounds, experiences and outlooks, it is interesting to hear the array of languages spoken.  Midlothian feels like a wee melting pot highlighting the uniqueness of us all.

04

Technology social media

Living through this technological 'revolution' sometimes I feel left behind and struggling with 'technophobia' now and again...but everything has advanced so quickly with almost everything at the touch of a button these days which is wonderful but lets not lose our face to face interactions.

Let’s talk

The 13th of April at Dalkeith Country Park looks set to be real sizzler food wise as Caim hosts the 'SCRAN' family friendly street food festival. Treats are in store for you between 12pm and 6pm - from Creole style barbecued food to 'Dog n' Bon' gourmet style hot dogs! There will be music and activities and children's admission is completely free of charge! If you are curious and peckish enough to find out more - read on as we have an exclusive interview with 'SCRAN' founders. I asked about this exciting event in relation to expectations, dietary dishes and even weather contingency plans. Nothing will dampen down spirits for this eventful day!

SCRAN

It’ll be a real family affair with amazing food, lots of kids activities in partnership with  Teapot Trust Charity and East Lothian Folk Tales, live music from Summerland  and floristry masterclass workshops. The aim is to make it fun and enjoyable for everyone. We have a maximum of 14 traders coming along with a mix of cuisine catering for all. Savoury and sweet food will be on offer along with artisan coffee, fizz, and Pimms. There will be vegan options available and all types of intolerances have also been taken into consideration. We have the caravan of courage coming along who make delicious vegan and vegetarian food. We also have Pizza, Mac Cheese and various other veggie options.  Sugar Daddy’s and Mimi’s Bakehouse will also be there selling vegan sweet treats. Everyone will be catered for!

We are subject to the good old Scottish weather, however, the event will go ahead regardless of damp conditions. There will be options to take cover under different parts of the Restoration Yard. But please do bring along sensible outdoor clothing and equipment should you need it!

It was an idea we had whilst on maternity leave. We both have young families and enjoy going to family friendly events and thought that there was a big gap in the market for this type of festival in Scotland. Dalkeith Country Park seemed like the best venue to host such an event given its location and popularity with families. We are just so excited to be making this happen and hope it is a massive success. We can’t believe the response we have already had on social media. It seems to be a concept that people love! Watch this space... more ideas coming from us!

We are aiming for an informal and relaxed vibe where adults and children can enjoy themselves without all the formalities of a restaurant experience. Being in the great outdoors adds to the adventure!

We have launched Downtown, a Supper Club, which has its first event at The Loft in Haddington in June. The concept behind this is bringing city food to the countryside. We are collaborating with some really cool caterers. Downtown will be on tour, just like SCRAN, so please keep updated on upcoming events by following us on social media and visiting our website.  We  also have some interesting pop up and private events in the pipe line!

If you need our help in creating a bespoke event to help you celebrate, please get in touch! info@caimevents.com

Midlothian Madam thank 'SCRAN' founders for kindly opening up about the event - it is sure to be a fun day for all!
